Virtual insurer Bowtie secures $70m funding from Sun Life

The investment will increase Sun Life's stake in the company.

Sun Life Hong Kong Limited invested an additional US$70m (HK$549m) in Hong Kong virtual insurer Bowtie Life Insurance Company Limited, further strengthening the long-term partnership between the two companies.

The funding will enable Bowtie to enhance its services in medical insurance and scale preventive healthcare initiatives.

Sun Life has participated in each of the funding rounds of Bowtie since 2018, demonstrating confidence in Bowtie’s vision and operation.

With this new investment, Sun Life will increase its already significant stake in the company.

Bowtie will continue to operate under its current leadership as an associated company of Sun Life, with its own brand identity, distinctive culture and dedicated employee base.
