Hong Kong promotes investment and trade with Australia

Secretary for Commerce & Economic Development meets key Australian business officials in Sydney.

Secretary for Commerce & Economic Development Algernon Yau met with trade officials from Australia in Sydney, promoting Hong Kong's strengths as an international trade hub and business investment destination.

Yau first met Minister for Better Regulation & Fair Trading of New South Wales Anoulack Chanthivong, where he reported on Hong Kong's policy measures to boost its economy, such as reducing alcohol taxes and promoting the silver economy.

This was followed by a meeting with Australia China Business Council (ACBC) National President David Olsson to discuss new initiatives to promote trade, as well as business and investment cooperation.

In addition, Yau attended a business roundtable luncheon with ACBC members to discuss Hong Kong's role as a springboard for Australian businesses to enter the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the broader Asian market.
