FWD launches cross-border medical plans amidst rising demand in GBA
Nearly a third of residents have sought treatment in China.
FWD Hong Kong has introduced two new medical insurance products—GBAssure Outpatient Plan and NobleCare Premier Medical Plan—in response to increasing demand for cross-border healthcare in the Greater Bay Area (GBA).
The launch follows a survey indicating that 30% of Hong Kong residents have sought medical treatment in mainland China, with over 76% recognising the advantages of cross-border options.
The GBAssure Outpatient Plan offers outpatient coverage in Hong Kong, Macau, and designated mainland cities without requiring health underwriting. It includes services such as general and psychiatric consultations, diagnostic imaging, colonoscopy, and traditional Chinese medicine.
The NobleCare Premier Medical Plan targets high-net-worth individuals, offering lifetime global coverage with no lifetime benefit limits and coverage of up to HK$30m annually.
It includes access to over 300 top-tier hospitals in mainland China and cashless hospitalisation arrangements.
Customers can choose from four geographical coverage areas and six deductible options, with guaranteed policy renewal up to age 101.
FWD is also expanding its five-year partnership with HKSH Medical Group to enhance cancer support services.
The collaboration now includes cancer concierge services, cross-border doctor-to-doctor tele-opinions, and extended rehabilitation planning.
These services aim to provide comprehensive support from diagnosis to recovery, addressing 71% of critical illness claims related to cancer reported in FWD’s 2024 claims report.
