Hong Kong firm takes over British scientific equipment maker

Techcomp (Holdings) Ltd buys controlling interest in Edinburgh Instruments for US$2.9 million.

The amount gives Techcomp a 66% stake in the Scottish firm. Techcomp is a leading manufacturer and distributor of analytical instruments, life science equipment and laboratory instruments based in Hong Kong,.

Techcomp intends to further boost its investment to take full control of EI. The acquisition by Techcomp is expected to open up wider global sales channels for EI.

EI are specialist manufacturers of Lifetime Fluorescence Spectrometers, Lasers and Gas Sensors for scientific research and industrial markets. The business is based in Livingston, Scotland and was founded in 1971.
