Hong Kong attracts global talent beyond finance: report
Mainland China was the largest source of international workers, whilst 70.4% were aged between 25 and 44.
Hong Kong is attracting international talent across healthcare, technology, entertainment, creative, and operational roles, according to payroll and human resources platform Deel.
The findings were based on international workers active in Hong Kong on Deel’s platform over the past 12 months.
Pharmaceutical technicians, web and multimedia developers, and film, stage, and related directors and producers recorded workforces composed entirely of international talent.
International workers also accounted for 92.9% of graphic and multimedia designers and 90.9% of office managers on the platform.
Deel said the findings showed Hong Kong’s appeal to internationally mobile professionals extends beyond its established position as a financial centre.
Mainland China was the largest source of international talent in Hong Kong, followed by the UK, India, the US, and France.
Around 70.4% of international workers in the city were aged between 25 and 44, indicating that Hong Kong continues to attract professionals in their prime working years.
Meanwhile, the UK and Canada were the leading destinations for Hong Kong professionals working overseas, followed by Singapore and Australia.
Hong Kong also ranked amongst the top four destinations for Singaporean professionals working abroad, alongside Australia, the UK, and the US.
