
MPFA orders 9 employers to pay contributions
The MPFA obtained two orders for payment of outstanding MPF contributions of about $167,000 against two employers at the District Court.
The two employers, N K Wong & Co. and Jade Century Company Limited, were ordered to pay the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority the sums of $90,583.5 and $77,205.97 respectively. These are mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable to four and six employees of the respective defendants.
The MPFA also successfully pursued seven claims in the Small Claims Tribunal for some $106,000 on behalf of 20 employees, who were owed MPF contributions by their employers.
The defendants, W H Mandolyn International Limited and Kee Engineering Co, did not dispute the amount claimed. The Adjudicator ordered them to pay the MPFA the sums of $32,886.02 and $2,829.75 respectively, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable.
Another five defendants, Ng Kwok Keung trading as Chapter Printing & Design Company, La Cascina Company Limited, He Fong Development Group Holdings Limited, Wong Lung Keung trading and Kwan Man Chiu trading, did not appear. In their absence, the Adjudicator ordered them to pay the MPFA the sums of $35,661.6, $25,408.81, $5,627.56, $3,574.2 and $899.11 respectively, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable.
Meanwhile, the Adjudicator ordered each of the two defendants, Ng Kwok Keung trading as Chapter Printing & Design Limited and Sino Gain Credit Management Limited, to pay the MPFA a financial penalty of $5,000, which was imposed by the MPFA for failing to make MPF contributions for their employees.
