Mercer strengthens Human Capital consulting leadership in Asia Pacific

The company appoints Brenda Wilson, Hans Kothuis, Kate Bravery, Roland Ruiz to beef up operations in the region.

Mercer recently announced four key appointments with its Human Capital consulting business in an effort to strengthen its leadership across Asia Pacific. These 4 key roles will lead Rewards, Talent Management and general Human Capital consulting on a local and regional level, according to a Mercer report.

Brenda Wilson
Brenda Wilson was previously the Hong Kong Business Leader for Human Capital Consulting and has now been appointed the Asia Pacific Leader of Talent Management Consulting, based in Hong Kong. Brenda has been with Mercer for over 11 years with stints in the US, Europe and Greater China. She has over 18 years of experience in strategy, design and implementation of human capital and talent management solutions, organizational development, leadership development and assessment, workforce planning and architecture, and career leveling and pathing.

Brenda holds an MBA from City University Business School, London, with a focus in International Human Resources Management and a Bachelor of Arts degree from California State University, Chico. She is also a certified trainer with qualifications from the University of Oklahoma.

Hans Kothuis
Hans Kothuis has been appointed Asia Pacific Leader of Rewards Consulting, based in Hong Kong. Hans joins us from Towers Watson where he was the Asia Pacific Practice Director, Executive Compensation, responsible for China, Hong Kong, South East Asia and Japan. Hans brings with him more than 15 years of senior consulting experience in rewards including expertise in developing the practice at Watson Wyatt. He has a significant track record of client management and leadership of rewards projects across a significant range of large conglomerates and leading companies, particularly in the insurance, banking and financial services sector.

Hans has an MBA from Otago University, New Zealand, and is a Certified Equity Professional (CEP). He is one of the founding members of the Global Equity Organization. He is also a member of World-at-Work, National Centre for Employee ownership and the National Association of Stock Plan Professionals.

Kate Bravery
Kate Bravery has been appointed the Hong Kong Business Leader for Human Capital Consulting (replacing Brenda Wilson) and brings with her over 17 years of experience in the Human Capital field within Asia Pacific, US and Europe. Prior to joining Mercer, Kate was a Partner at Chandler Macleod (CM), one of Australia's largest human capital firms where she was responsible for leading a team of Leadership Development and Talent Management consultants. Previously, she headed up PDI Ninth House in Sydney. She consults in the areas of talent strategy, enterprise capability framework design, performance & succession management and leadership development, most recently across Australia, New Zealand, ASEAN and India.

Kate holds an MBA from Macquarie Graduate School of Management, Australia, a MSc. in Organizational Psychology from City University, London and a BSc. (Hons) from University of London. She is a Chartered Organizational Psychologist (UK) and a Certified HR practitioner.

Roland Ruiz
Roland Ruiz joins Mercer as the ASEAN Human Capital Business Leader, based in Singapore. With over 20 years of combined managerial and consulting experience focused on people and organizational issues across Asia, Roland brings with him a wealth of knowledge and a fresh perspective to the firm. Prior to joining Mercer, Roland was the Regional Director, Southeast Asia, for the Hay Group and Managing Director for their Asia-wide Reward Information Services Division. He has been based in Singapore for the past 9 years with Hay and has previously worked with Hay in Hong Kong and the Philippines with the Office of the President.

Roland has an MBA from Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University, as well as a BA in Psychology and a MA in Sociology.
