SMEs gain AI and cybersecurity training in chamber-VTC pact
The partnership will cover AI and cybersecurity training for staff and companies.
The Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce (HKGCC) and the Vocational Training Council (VTC) have agreed to deepen their strategic partnership in Vocational and Professional Education and Training.
Through a memorandum of understanding, HKGCC and VTC will work on upskilling and reskilling programmes in information technology and other professional fields to help workers and businesses respond to technological and market changes.
HKGCC Chairman Jacob Kam also announced the AI and Innovation Initiative, a separate HKGCC programme featuring partner-led AI adoption cohorts to provide targeted technical and implementation support.
He added that the partnership would help address businesses' training and technical needs.
VTC's member institution, the Hong Kong Institute of Information Technology, will provide continuing and professional education for HKGCC staff and member companies.
The programmes will cover areas such as AI and cybersecurity and are intended to support companies’ digital transformation and operational efficiency.
HKGCC will also encourage its member companies to offer internships, employment and industry projects to VTC students and graduates.
It will promote apprenticeship training and the Vocational Professionals Admission Scheme among its members to encourage greater industry participation in talent development.
The organisations will also promote youth development, with VTC encouraging students to join HKGCC programmes to build leadership skills and engage with the business community.
