Travellers from Hong Kong prefer romantic fiction-based trips: Booking.com
More than half also want journeys based on games, memories, amongst others.
Nearly nine in ten (89%) of travellers from Hong Kong are interested in visiting a destination inspired by romantic or fantasy fictional works, according to Booking.com.
Meanwhile, 76% are open to participating in a role-play retreat based on their favourite game, book, or film, revealed Booking.com’s report that reflected travelers’ journey preferences for 2026.
Eighty-eight percent of Hong Kong travellers are open to booking futuristic accommodations, reflecting their curiosity in innovative stays, the booking platform’s report said.
More than three in four, or 77% would recreate a memory or photo at the exact location where such were made or taken. They intend to revisit a memory with family or friends.
Another 85% are open to artificial intelligence (AI)-powered suggestions that can recommend stays inspired by locations in literature, or pinpoint real-world filming locations.
Vacations would be an opportunity to check compatibility with others, as 71% of travellers from Hong Kong consider taking a trip with another person with whom they have romantic, platonic, and professional connections.
Wellness travel is expected to rise, with 86% traveling to avail of skincare services.
Travellers of the Gen Z demographic are experimental as shown by the 86% who are open to custom itineraries, Booking.com said.
Seven in ten or 77% travellers from Hong Kong said they would consider buying design-led kitchenware or pantry items on vacation.
Booking.com based its research from more than 29,000 travelers across 33 countries and territories.
