Government bans poultry product import from Neatherlands

H7 avian influenza outbreak raises alarm.

There's an In a report, the Centre for Food Safety announced that the import of poultry products, including eggs, from the village of Zeewolde, Flevoland Province, the Netherlands, has been banned with immediate effect.

The Netherlands Consulate General notified the centre about an outbreak of H7 avian influenza on the poultry farm.

About 17,000 tonnes of frozen poultry and 1.3 million eggs were imported from the Netherlands to Hong Kong last year.

The centre has contacted the Netherlands authorities over the issue, and will closely monitor World Organisation for Animal Health updates on avian influenza outbreaks in the country.
