3 food items failed safety tests

Warnings letters have been issued.

According to a report, three food samples of Chinese cold dishes failed Centre for Food Safety checks last month.

Of the 200 samples collected, the overall satisfactory rate was 98.5%.

The centre collected various Chinese cold dishes in February and March from food premises, food factories, supermarkets and convenience stores for microbiological testing.

A sample of 'mala' beef and a sample of spicy shredded chicken contained salmonella.

A sample of vegetarian duck contained Bacillus cereus.

Consuming food with an excessive amount of salmonella or Bacillus cereus may cause gastrointestinal distress.

The centre has traced the foods’ sources, taken follow-up samples, and issued warning letters.
