PolyU and Ant Digital Technologies set up joint lab

Investing $100m to jointly develop advanced intelligent services.

Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) and Ant Digital Technologies jointly signed an agreement on Tuesday establishing the AI and Web3 lab to support Hong Kong’s digital technology innovation.

The Joint Lab will focus on trustworthy AI agents, AI-enhanced blockchain security architecture and data privacy verification technologies, promoting intelligent services as well as secure circulation of digital assets.

In addition, an “AI + Web3 Education Fund Platform” is set to leverage PolyU’s research capabilities and Ant Digital Technologies’ resources, it will also host international technology seminars and competitions.

Ant Digital Technologies plans to invest $100m over the next three years to support the Joint Lab’s research work and project incubation.

The Joint Lab seeks to foster interdisciplinary convergence of cutting-edge technologies, propelling Hong Kong’s development into an international innovation and technology hub and a global hub for digital asset innovation, according to Prof. Jin-Guang Teng, president of PolyU.

PolyU was ranked the first in CoinDesk’s Best Universities for Blockchain 2022 whilst Ant Digital Technologies is a digital subsidiary of Ant Group.
