Hang Seng China unveils HK$595.8mln Shanghai headquarters

Hang Seng Bank to continue exploring opportunities for growth on the Mainland and provide high-quality financial products and services to Mainland customers.

Hang Seng Bank (China) Limited (‘Hang Seng China’) on Monday celebrated the official naming of Hang Seng Bank Tower in Shanghai. Chairman of Hang Seng China, Mrs Margaret Leung, and guests including the bank’s board members and senior staff, participated in a ceremony to unveil the building name and turn on the rooftop LED logo signage, according to a Hang Seng Bank report.

Last May, Hang Seng China announced its plan to purchase about 7,000 square metres of office and retail space in the Tower – as well as the naming and signage rights for the building – for RMB 510 million (HK$595.76 million). The bank expects to move its headquarters to the Tower in the first quarter of 2011.

Mrs Leung said at the ceremony: “This is an important milestone in Hang Seng China’s development on the Mainland. The bank now owns its headquarters premises in the Mainland’s financial hub and the Hang Seng logo is a part of Lujiazui’s skyline.

“The purchase of this premises in Shanghai as Hang Seng China’s headquarters demonstrates our long-term commitment to the Mainland market and supports our brand-building efforts. Hang Seng Bank will continue to explore opportunities for growth on the Mainland and provide high-quality financial products and services to Mainland customers,” she added.

Hang Seng Bank Tower is located at 1000 Lujiazui Ring Road, the heart of Shanghai Lujiazui Finance and Trade Zone.
