Hong Kong set to launch new banknotes

The two batches of the release of 3 denominations of the 2010 Series Hong Kong Banknotes will be on Nov. 22 and days before the Lunar New Year.

The Monetary Authority announced the issuance schedule for the remaining three denominations of the 2010 Series Hong Kong Banknotes Tuesday.

The $50 banknotes of the three note-issuing banks, and $100 banknotes of the Standard Chartered Bank and Bank of China will go into circulation on November 22.

The $20 banknotes and the HSBC $100 banknote will be circulated before the Lunar New Year.

Leaflets illustrating the design and security features of all five denominations of the 2010 series are available at the three note-issuing banks and the authority.
