HKEX to add 12 stock option classes in November
Both weekly and monthly expiries will go live from the first day of trading.
Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEX) will introduce 12 new single stock option classes on 9 November, expanding investor choice and providing greater flexibility for trading and risk management.
Both weekly and monthly expiries will be available for these new contracts from the first day of trading, HKEX said.
HKEX added that single stock options are amongst its fastest-growing derivatives products, with average daily volume of 899,056 contracts in the first nine months of 2026, 1.4% higher year on year.
Weekly single stock options, launched in November 2024, have also gained traction, with more than 51 million contracts traded to date.
They have consistently accounted for around 20% of trading volume in their corresponding single stock option products, HKEX said.
Following the latest additions, HKEX’s weekly single stock options will cover 66 listed companies and exchange-traded funds (ETFs) across a range of sectors.
