Goods export up 5.3% in March

Double digit growth was posted in export volume to the Mainland.

The total export volume of goods rose 5.3% YoY in March, according to external merchandise trade statistics released by the Census & Statistics Department. Imports correspondingly rose 8.1% YoY over the same period.

Total export value continued its steady trend upwards after rising 8% YoY to $347.7b thanks to strong trade volume in the region.

Double digit growth was registered in total export volume to the Mainland (13.7%). However, total export volume to India plunged 35.9% over the same period.

Total exports to Vietnam, Japan and US also dipped 0.5%, 2.6% and 3.3% respectively.

On a quarterly basis, the total export volume of goods grew 7.3% YoY in Q1.
