Foreign currency reserves hit US$421.5b in January

This figure has remained unchanged since December 2024.

Hong Kong’s foreign currency reserve assets remained unchanged in January at $3.28T (US$421.5b) from December.

The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) said the reserve assets represent over five times the currency in circulation or about 39% of Hong Kong dollar M3.

“There were no unsettled foreign exchange contracts at end-January 2025 and end-December 2024,” HKMA said.
