Diffusion index inches up to 41.6 in September

The one-month ahead outlook DI on business receipts rose to 47.

The diffusion index (DI) on business receipts amongst small and medium-sized enterprises increased from 41.3 to 41.6 in September, reflecting stabilisation in business sentiment. 

According to the Census and Statistics Department, despite being below the 50-mark, the sectors’ DI rose by varying degrees. Logistics and restaurants rose to 40.3 and 36.5, respectively.  

Also, the DI on new orders for the import and export trades increased from 43.4 to 44.5.

The one-month ahead outlook DI rose to 47 from 45.4 in August.
