Deadline for 5G subsidy applications extended to 31 December

The $100m scheme was launched under an anti-epidemic fund.

The government extended its subsidy scheme for early deployment of 5G to 31 December to boost innovation in both public and private organisations.

According to its statement, the government said the $100m subsidy is earmarked under the anti-epidemic fund, which seeks to deploy 5G connection to various sectors. 

The scheme will subsidise 50% of costs for deployment of 5G tech in a project subject to a cap of $500,000.

To date, the government approved 141 applications for 5G, which will aid in developing business services and smart city applications.
