Business receipts rise by double digits for some service sectors in Q1

Two sectors, however, reported declines.

Four service sectors recorded double-digit increases in business receipts value in the first quarter of 2025, the Census and Statistics Department reported.

There were financing (except banking) (32.5% year-on-year), insurance (23.1% YoY), import/export trade (19.4% YoY), and banking (19.0% YoY) industries.

On the other hand, decreases were recorded in real estate (-6.7% YoY) and retail (-6.5% YoY) industries.

Officials expect Mainland and Hong Kong growth to support the services sector, though external uncertainties and evolving consumer habits may impact some industries.
