55% of young adults turn to digital tools for insurance research, report finds
The survey showed 64% still prefer human advisers.
Young adults in Hong Kong are turning to digital platforms to research insurance products, with 55% having explored insurance options using digital tools in the past five years, according to Prudential plc’s report.
The survey showed digital usage has not translated into full self-reliance in decision-making, with 46% of respondents saying they feel confident managing and choosing insurance and investment products independently. A further 43% said they are comfortable selecting life insurance on their own using only digital tools, the report found.
Despite widespread digital research, preferences continue to tilt towards human advice at the point of decision. The survey showed 64% of Hong Kong respondents prefer human advisers for insurance advice, compared with 36% who favour digital tools, indicating a hybrid engagement model rather than a fully digital shift.
Prudential said the findings point to sustained demand for combined digital and advisory models in Hong Kong, as young adults use online tools for comparison and information while relying on advisers for complex insurance decisions.
