Hong Kong-Taipei forum to be held on 7 June

City management to be a key topic.

According to a report, a Hong Kong-Taipei inter-city forum will be held in Taipei on June 7, to strengthen exchange and interaction between the two cities.

The Hong Kong Economic, Trade & Cultural Office (Taiwan) said the forum will serve as a platform for Hong Kong and Taipei to exchange views and share experiences in city management, and can further enhance co-operation and friendship.

Senior officials, experts and academics from Hong Kong and Taipei will be invited to speak on environmental protection and heritage conservation, and share relevant work experience in these two areas.

Financial Secretary John Tsang and Taipei's Deputy Mayor Ting Ting-yu will speak as officiating guests.

Secretary for the Environment KS Wong and Secretary for Development Paul Chan will each lead a delegation to attend the forum, and will deliver keynote speeches on management of solid waste and the revitalisation of historic buildings.

Secretary for Constitutional & Mainland Affairs Raymond Tam and Taipei's Research, Development & Evaluation Commission Chairperson Yuan Nai-chuan will give closing remarks.
