Industrial production index dipped 0.9% in 3Q13

Producer price index also dropped.

According to the Census & Statistics Department, the manufacturing industries industrial production index fell 0.9% in the third quarter year-on-year , while the corresponding producer price index fell 5.2%.

The sewerage, waste management and remediation activities' industrial production index dropped 2.5% year-on-year, and the corresponding producer price index grew 3.6% over a year earlier.

Output volume decreases were recorded in the metal, computer, electronic and optical products, machinery and equipment industry (-13%); the wearing apparel industry (-11.9%); the textiles industry (-8%); and the paper products, printing and reproduction of recorded media industry (-2.3%).

The food, beverages and tobacco industry recorded an output volume increase of 3.1%.

On a seasonally-adjusted basis, the index of industrial production for manufacturing industries as a whole increased 0.6% over the previous quarter.

A decrease in producer prices was recorded in the metal, computer, electronic and optical products, machinery and equipment industry (-11.5%).

The wearing apparel industry had the largest increase in producer prices (2.9%), followed by the textiles industry (2.6%); the food, beverages and tobacco industry (1.8%); and the paper products, printing and reproduction of recorded media industry (1.6%).
