Government posts almost $2bln surplus in April

As at 30 April fiscal reserves stood at $597 billion.

According to news.gov.hk, government spending for the first month of the fiscal year (April) was $22.7 billion while revenue was $24.2 billion.

The surplus was said to be due to the receipt of salaries tax, profits tax and stamp duties.
