MSENVY bags Designed in Hong Kong Awards for Apparel (Women)

The clothing firm's use of silk in its digitally printed collections continues to appeal to various ages.

MSENVY is one of Hong Kong's leading silk luxury fashion design and manufacturing company. With a renowned reputation for product quality and workmanship, MSENVY designs and manufactures highly desirable silk fashion products. In particular, there has been an increased demand for the clothing firm's jumpsuit designs which uses pure natural fabric and 100% silk crepe, advanced digital printed quality, and placement print. The craftmanship for inside finishing of the design is also all-French seam. For their relentless dedication to product quality, MSENVY won Hong Kong Business Designed in Hong Kong Awards for Apparel (Women). 

MSENVY Managing Director for Product Development Jun Wong said the clothing company's products are unique in the industry since they're all digitally printed. "Our collections are made of different types of silk, it is a very unique clothing line among the industry, because silk is very delicate and expensive fabric. It is not commonly found in most brands, supposedly it sells only under medium to high-end brands."

"We found since the last two years, jumpsuits of this type of style is becoming more popular than before. We sense this trend, from the increasing demands and orders of our export branded customers, and from our China wholesale sales channel as well. So we developed a wide collection of jumpsuits covering various designs to fit in different countries and age ranges. For example, our younger branded customer they accept more playful and sexy design, while for some more elegant brand customer, we design it in a more sophisticated way," she adds.

Sales in mainland China have also been very good for the company as Wong says that customer feedback is at the heart of the work MSENVY does. "We study our sales data which reflect what kind of designs, fittings, colours, prints are most popular and in trend for the market. When we develop add-on collections within the same season, normally we integrate these popular elements into the new designs." 

Wong adds MSENVY focuses on their products' details so much so that she insists on them looking "perfect inside and out." "Our print design is developed in-house, all digital printing, to reflect the finest colour effect and details from the original print design. Our prints are exclusive and extraordinary, it is one of our strengths, all our old customers are know about this and look for our print designs constantly every season." 

But it has not been all smooth sailing for the company due to the higher material costs. "Our main material is silk. Between 2017 and 2018, different types of silk fabric cost has increased between 13% to 45%. Some of our customers, they cannot afford the higher cost," she explains. "One of our main challenges and opportunities in year 2018 is we need to explore and invent more new types of silk blends fabric for the market need."

Despite the challenges, MSENVY is looking to launch a new prestige brand. "We are in the process of establishing a prestige brand related to a simple silk product which is designed and made in Hong Kong," says Wong.
