Li Wai Leung of Hengan International Group Company Limited bags Executive of the Year-Manufacturing at the Hong Kong Business Management Excellence Awards 2018

Li boosted investor relations via company tours and investor conferences.

Under the leadership of Li Wai Leung, Executive Director of the Hengan International Group Company Limited, the company conducted a "reverse roadshow" in December 2017 to showcase the group's operation and development strategy. Hengan invited over 60 representatives from international investment institutions to visit the company's headquarters and production base in Jinjiang, Fujian. They also participated in a conference hosted by the Hengan's CEO and met with the company's Amoeba teams to deepen market knowledge about the company’s structural reform for sales operations. These initiatives won Li Executive of the Year for Manufacturing Industry at the Hong Kong Business Management Excellence Awards 2018.

Li, as head of Hengan's investor relations team, sought to enlighten investors about the company's latest sales strategy — the Amoeba model. The investor tour was a great success with around 20 brokerage firms publishing research reports about it. Most of the analysts commented that the effect brought by “small team” strategy was significant and gave positive recommendations on Hengan's future development.

Other strategies employed by the investor relations team were regular meetups with investors, which included investor conferences hosted by various brokerage firms. In 2017, the investor relations team participated in over 200 sessions of results announcement meetings, investor conferences, and investors meetings, either one-on-one or in group. In these meetings, the team introduced the latest business development of Hengan and listened to the investors’ comments on Hengan’s business targets and development direction.
Because of these, Hengan’s efforts in investor relations have been widely recognised in the market. The company was awarded the QuamIR Awards — The Most Remarkable Investor Relations Recognition 2017, by Oceanwide IR Limited. It was also acclaimed as the Top 100 Hong Kong Stocks for the sixth consecutive years

Before joining Hengan, Li was the chief financial officer, company secretary, and authorized representative of Evergreen International Holdings Limited, a company listed on the Main Board of the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited (stock code: 238). Prior to that, Li also worked as the chief financial officer of two sizable PRC-based manufacturing companies and as a senior manager in PricewaterhouseCoopers. He has over 16 years of experience in accounting, finance, and business advisory work.

The inaugural Hong Kong Business Management Excellence Awards was held on November 28, 2018 at the Conrad Hong Kong. The award aims to honour the City's most outstanding business leaders, including noteworthy individuals and teams whose initiatives have brought tangible business gains for their company's operations.

The 2018 nominees were judged by a panel consisting of Andrew Ross, Managing Director of Baker Tilly Hong Kong; Charbon Lo, Director of Crowe (HK) CPA Limited; Roy Lo, Managing Partner of SHINEWING (HK) CPA Limited; and Anthony Tam, Executive Director in Tax Services of Mazars Hong Kong.
