In 2024, Uber reported that the most 'forgetful' passengers in Hong Kong hailed from the Yau Tsim Mong, Central, and Wan Chai districts, with the highest number of lost items including laptops, AirPods, and AirPods cases.

During peak hours and festivals, commonly forgotten items include bags, phones, wallets, headphones, and IDs. Late-night riders also frequently leave behind the same items.

In terms of food, the most frequently forgotten items are chocolates, wine, snacks, pineapple buns, and tarts. In the cosmetics category, earrings, bracelets, rings, perfume, and makeup compacts are the items most commonly left behind.

Luxury items are also frequently forgotten, with luxury watches, gold chains, coats, and lipsticks topping the list.

For passengers traveling to or from airports, the most frequently forgotten items include passports, laptops, AirPods, jackets, and umbrellas.

Fashion items have dominated the list this year, influenced by the Y2K trend, which has drawn consumers to items like scarves, chokers, scrunchies, necklaces, and rings.

To address the overwhelming cases of lost items, Uber has introduced an in-app function that assists riders to locate and facilitate the retrieval of passenger belongings.
