Hong Kong Tramways to raise fares starting 12 May

Passengers aged 12 or above will now pay $3.3 for a ride.

Hong Kong Tramways (HKT) fares are set to increase starting 12 May, following approval from the Chief Executive-in-Council.

Under the new fare structure, Passengers aged 12 or above will pay $3.3 for a tram ride, an increase of $0.3 from the current fare of $3.

Child fares will rise from $1.5 to $1.6, whilst fares for seniors aged 65 and above will increase from $1.3 to $1.5.

The government said that the increase was assessed based on factors such as service quality, HKT’s improvement projects, operating cost changes, and revenue performance since the last fare adjustment.
