Government approves Northern Link Main Line railway scheme
The line will serve as the primary transport backbone for the Northern Metropolis.
The Chief Executive in Council has authorised the Northern Link (NOL) Main Line railway scheme under the Railways Ordinance.
According to the Government, the NOL Main Line will serve as the main transportation backbone of the Northern Metropolis.
The line will connect the existing Tuen Ma Line and East Rail Line, creating a railway loop that links the New Territories with the Kowloon urban area.
Once operational, the travel time between Kam Sheung Road Station and Kwu Tung Station is projected to decrease from the current 60 to 80 minutes during peak hours to approximately 12 minutes.
