Singapore and Hong Kong team up to combat telecom scams

The parties will collaborate on three areas.

Singapore’s Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) and Hong Kong’s Office of the Communications Authority (OFCA) have teamed up to combat scams across telecommunications channels.

The parties will collaborate on three areas to fight telecommunications scams, including providing assistance and cooperation related to scam telephone calls and text messages through mutual information exchanges.

IMDA and OFCA will also facilitate research and education on scam telephone calls and text messages.

Lastly, the agencies will facilitate a shared cross-jurisdictional approach to deal with relevant regulatory issues and consumer protection.
