DFI to supply 1,000 tonnes of low-carbon rice to HK, Macau

The group plans to expand pack sizes (2kg, 8kg, 9kg) and add Yu Pin King Healthy Mixed Rice (2kg, 5kg) in 2026.

DFI Retail Group said it has entered a five-year partnership with Thailand’s Toumi Foods and Product Co. Ltd. to produce and deliver 1,000 metric tonnes of low-carbon rice to Hong Kong and Macau in 2026, five times its 2025 goal.

DFI said the rice is sourced from its low-carbon cultivation programme, which was recognized at the UNSDG Achievement Awards Hong Kong 2025, and that the 2025 launch delivered a 25% increase in sales.

The group plans to expand pack sizes (2kg, 8kg, 9kg) and add Yu Pin King Healthy Mixed Rice (2kg, 5kg) in 2026, with availability at Wellcome and Market Place in Hong Kong and San Miu Supermarket in Macau.

DFI said a 2024 pilot with Toumi and partners achieved at least a 30% reduction in on-farm greenhouse-gas emissions versus conventional methods, citing practices including alternate wetting and drying, no straw burning, and optimized soil and fertilizer management.
