Lunar New Year fair stalls to open for auctioning

1,171 wet goods stalls, 817 dry goods stalls, eight thematic stalls and 16 fast food stalls will be put up for auction.

Stalls at the 2012 Lunar New Year fairs will be auctioned from November 9, the Food & Environmental Hygiene Department has announced Thursday.

The 2012 fairs to be held at 14 locations will be open from January 17 to 23. A total of 1,171 wet goods stalls, 817 dry goods stalls, eight thematic stalls and 16 fast food stalls will be put up for auction.

The opening prices range from $490 to $8,410 for wet goods stalls, $580 to $11,020 for dry goods stalls, and $5,890 to $290,310 for fast food stalls.

Eight thematic stalls will also be set up in the Victoria Park for selling festive commodities such as New Year food, spring couplets and decorations.

The opening price of these stalls will be $32,260 and the auction will take place in the morning on November 10.

The auctions will be held at Queen Elizabeth Stadium, 18 Oi Kwan Road, Wan Chai, from November 9 to 10, and from November 14 to 17. The auction sessions are scheduled from 9am to 12.30pm and 2pm to 4.45pm.
