Hong Kong to resume 71 private lots for Hung Shui Kiu development
The land will support a development expected to deliver 66,700 homes and 150,000 jobs.
The Lands Department will resume 71 private lots covering about 33,900 square metres for the second phase of the Hung Shui Kiu/Ha Tsuen New Development Area.
The lots will revert to the government on 26 September 2026. Eligible landowners will receive ex gratia compensation.
Affected households and business operators are expected to begin clearing the sites from December 2026 at the earliest. The department said it is handling rehousing and compensation arrangements before the departure deadline.
Once fully developed, the new development area is expected to provide about 66,700 additional housing units for 184,000 residents and create around 150,000 employment opportunities.
