Gov't extends application for land sharing scheme to May 2024

The extension allows project proponents to prepare and submit the required information for their application.

The Development Bureau has extended the application period for the Land Sharing Plot Scheme (LSPS) to 5 May 2024.

The extension allows the project proponents in active discussions with the Land Sharing Office (LSO) to prepare and submit the information required for their applications.

The scheme allows project proponents willing to help increase public housing supply in the short to medium term to share their private land.

Since its launch in May 2020, the department has received five applications, three with in-principle endorsements involving the development sites in Yuen Long and Tai Po districts, with a total housing yield of approximately 21,600 units, including 15,100 public housing units.

The bureau advised proponents to submit their applications early. "If private land owners do not put forth their applications in good time, it will defeat the scheme's purpose," Development Secretary Bernadette Linn said.

Linn added that the government continues to advance applications with in-principle endorsement.
