Silver bond subscriptions reach $98.2b

The bonds will be issued on Friday, totaling $55b.

A total of 371,821 valid applications were received for the latest silver bond subscription, seeking $98.2b in bond principals.

Applicants for 16 units or fewer—89,958 in total—will receive their full applications.

The remaining 281,863 applications, for more than 16 units, will each receive 16 units, with 113,918 applicants getting one extra unit through a ballot.

The bonds will be issued on Friday, totaling $55b.

Financial Secretary Paul Chan said the record demand shows strong interest in the scheme, which provides senior citizens with a safe, low-risk investment while supporting infrastructure projects.
