HK allows individuals with ‘amber code’ to participate in B2B conventions

Inbound persons from overseas or Taiwan are categorised with an amber code.

Starting 25 August, persons categorised with an amber code will be allowed to participate in B2B conventions held in “places of public entertainment and event premises,” the government announced.

An amber code is given to an inbound person from overseas places or Taiwan.

Originally, they are not allowed to enter high-risk premises involving mask-off or group activities, and premises requiring key protection.

The government, however, clarified that individuals with an amber code will still be subject to specified requirements when attending B2B conventions like wearing a mask at all times during the event.

For other large-scale conventions and exhibitions involving more participation from the local public, the government said organising bodies can make applications to allow them to facilitate their activities.

The government said they will review the circumstances and may consider offering facilitation arrangements if the activities are “deemed appropriate and conducive to the economic development of Hong Kong.”
