Gov’t adjusts income and asset limits for WFA Scheme
Asset limits will be raised for all household sizes.
The government has announced updates to the income and asset limits under the Working Family Allowance (WFA) Scheme, effective from April 2025.
For households with six or more members, the income limits will remain at the 2024-25 level. For five-person households, the income limits will be aligned with those for four-person households. Income limits for other household sizes will be increased according to the usual mechanism.
Due to economic challenges in Hong Kong affecting lower-income households, the government has made these adjustments to support them.
Additionally, asset limits will be raised for all household sizes.
If the Appropriation Bill 2025 is passed, the government will also issue a one-off extra allowance to WFA households, as proposed in the 2025-26 Budget. This allowance is expected to be disbursed a month after the bill’s passage at the earliest.
The WFA Scheme supports lower-income working families not on Comprehensive Social Security Assistance.
