GBA businesses regain confidence as Mainland-HK travel resumes

The confidence index of business rose about the 50-print for the first time since Q421.

Companies in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) have become more confident with their business following the resumption of travel between the Mainland and Hong Kong, data from the GBA Business Confidence Index (GBAI) showed.

According to the GBAI, the business confidence of GBA companies jumped 11.8 points to 51.3, marking the first adobe-50 print since Q421.

Business expectations of GBA companies likewise rose, leaping 16.4 points to 61.5.

Amongst industries, Financial Services (59.8) and Innovation and Technology (54.3) had the highest conference or best performance. 

Meanwhile, Professional Services (65.2, up 19.1 points), Manufacturing and Trading (61.3, up 17 points) and Financial Services (67.4, up 16.9 points) showed the strongest improvements in the expectations index.
