Choi Shek Lane light public housing applications open 25 August
The project aims to meet urgent housing demand.
The Housing Bureau will open applications for the light public housing (LPH) project at Choi Shek Lane on 25 August.
The project will renovate a former school to provide 150 units, with intake starting in the first quarter of 2026.
Eligible applicants will receive application forms by post. Forms submitted before 15 September will get priority allocation, including for Choi Shek Lane and other LPH projects with available units. Those who applied previously do not need to reapply.
The Choi Shek Lane project aims to meet urgent housing demand, following strong interest in the Phase 2 LPH earlier this year.
In related developments, tenant intake for the first LPH project at Yau Pok Road, Yuen Long, which offers about 2,100 units, was fully completed in mid-June.
The second project at Choi Hing Road, Ngau Tau Kok, with roughly 2,290 units, is the first urban-area LPH project and is expected to complete full intake soon.
The bureau also reported that the average waiting time for subsidised rental housing in the second quarter of 2025 fell by 0.2 years to 5.1 years, the lowest level since the first quarter of 2018.
Meanwhile, general LPH applicants face an average waiting time of 2.3 years, demonstrating LPH’s effectiveness in addressing urgent housing needs.
