6 in 10 organisations still unfamiliar with carbon neutrality: report

78% of enterprises have not yet established comprehensive carbon neutrality targets.

Awareness of ‘carbon neutrality’ has increased 10% compared to last year, yet 60% of organisations remain unfamiliar with the concept.

According to a survey by the Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC) and the City University of Hong Kong's School of Energy and Environment, an increasing number of companies are setting carbon neutrality targets and conducting regular carbon audits.

Regarding carbon reduction targets, 78% of enterprises have not yet established comprehensive carbon neutrality targets.

Meanwhile, 67% of enterprises, particularly SMEs, cite a lack of resources as a barrier to effectively implementing carbon reduction measures.

The survey also identifies three major challenges such as identifying high financial capital requirements, a lack of price incentives, and a lack of technical knowledge on assessment.
