1 in 10 local enterprises expect better business situation in 4Q23

Nine percent expect business to be worse.

More enterprises in Hong Kong are expecting a better business situation in the last quarter of 2023 (17% in 4Q23 vs 16% in 3Q23).

Only  9% of businesses expect their situation to be worse in 4Q23. 

According to the Census and Statistics Department (C&SD), enterprises in most of the surveyed sectors expect their business situation to increase on balance or remain broadly unchanged in 4Q23. 

In particular, significantly more respondents in the accommodation and food services and retail sectors expect their business situation to be better in 4Q2023 compared with 3Q2023.

Meanwhile,  firms in all the surveyed sectors expect their volume of business/output, employment, and selling prices/service charges to increase on balance or remain broadly unchanged in 4Q23 compared with 3Q2023.
