Election voters urged to register through new campaign

Deadline for registration is on May 16.

In a report, the Registration & Electoral Office says eligible people who have yet to register as electors are reminded to sign up before the May 16 deadline.

Hong Kong permanent residents aged 18 or over who ordinarily reside in Hong Kong may register to vote.

Registered electors should notify the office of any change in residential address or registration particulars before June 29.

Some electors who failed to respond to the office's inquiry letters last year were removed from the 2012 final register. These people may re-submit voter registration forms to the office by the May 16 deadline.

Anyone who is uncertain of their voter registration status may call the office hotline, 2891 1001, or check the existing 2012 final register at the office or District Offices.

The office today launched a campaign that includes radio and television announcements, water bill inserts, newspaper advertisements and TV programmes, to remind people to register if they have not, and to update their address if they have moved.

The forms can be downloaded from the voter registration website, or obtained from the office, District Offices, and public housing estates' management offices.

Send completed forms by mail to the Registration & Electoral Office, 10/F, Guardian House, 32 Oi Kwan Road, Wan Chai, or by fax to 2891 1180.
