NUS, UOB, Northern Trust launch blockchain token for green bonds

NUS’  strategy includes a three-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Northern Trust to develop solutions in ESG finance.

The National University of Singapore (NUS), Northern Trust and UOB launched a pioneering initiative to tokenize green bond credentials using blockchain technology.

This initiative is part of the Monetary Authority of Singapore's (MAS) Project Guardian, which explores asset tokenization to enhance liquidity and efficiency in financial markets.

Northern Trust will utilize its Matrix Zenith platform to mint and hold the green bond reporting token, whilst UOB, as the lead arranger of the bond issuance, will provide valuable feedback to refine how tokenized data can improve sustainability reporting practices for investors.

NUS’ broader strategy includes a three-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Northern Trust to develop solutions in ESG finance.
