HKEX appoints new chief strategy officer

Daniel Sonder will also become head of data business.

Daniel Sonder was named as chief strategy officer and head of data business and markets at the Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEX), the stock exchange declared.

In a statement, HKEX said Sonder will lead the group strategy function where he will help build the “Marketplace of the Future.” Sonder is a former chief financing officer of the Brazilian stock exchange.

HKEX rolls out new investor relations portal

At the helm of data business and markets, Sonder will work with market data operations and manage the development of HKEX’s data business, adding new data sets and services such as the environment, social, and governance (ESG) data. 

Apart from Sonder’s appointment, Andrew Walton also joined HKEX as managing director and head of digital assets markets. Ken Chiu also became head of carbon and ESG products and markets.
