Hang Seng AI Advancement ETF to list on 28 September

Index constituents span chipmakers, language models, and self-driving tech.

Hang Seng Investment Management Limited will list the Hang Seng AI Advancement ETF on 28 September, investing exclusively in Hong Kong-listed equities involved in artificial intelligence (AI).

The ETF seeks to track the Hang Seng Artificial Intelligence Theme Index, the company said.

The index groups its constituents into AI infrastructure—including semiconductors and electronic equipment—AI applications, such as large language models and image recognition; and physical AI, comprising autonomous driving and robotics.

Hang Seng said the index will be reviewed and rebalanced quarterly to reflect changes in the sector.

The company cited data from Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing showing that companies across the AI value chain raised $235b through initial public offerings between the start of 2026 and 31 August, accounting for about 65% of total IPO proceeds during the period.

Eligible newly listed companies can be added as early as their 11th trading day if their full market capitalisation on the first trading day ranks amongst the top 10 existing constituents and they meet other eligibility requirements, Hang Seng added.
