Hong Kong underwear ideas rub off on Shenzhen

Shenzhen SEZ will open up for international underwear brands, particularly from Hong Kong and Taiwan, to bring in new ideas and technology.

In fact, Shenzhen is now on a par with the Chaozhou-Shantou area and Zhejiang Province for its underwear businesses. One of the four so-called "famous China brands" of underwear across the country is from Shenzhen.

More than 10 top international underwear manufacturers that include Swear, Regina Miracle, CK, Triumph and Dim, have set up production facilities in the zone.

Local manufacturers are also developing. Brands like Embry Form, Maniform, Venies, Top Form, Xusany, Divona, Xinsya and Zim have made a quick name for themselves.

Shenzhen's underwear manufacturers largely adopted an export model to begin with, but many have now made a strategic shift.

They rely on new technologies to produce value-added products for export.

Manufacturers now tend either to create their own brands or act as dealers for top foreign brands, while building their own marketing channels.
