1Gbps Wi-Fi debuts at shopping malls and meeting points

Now available at Langham Place Mongkok.

PCCW-HKT has launched Hong Kong's first 1Gbps Wi-Fi service. In addition to Langham Place, PCCW-HKT will upgrade its existing Wi-Fi hotspots at other shopping malls and locations with high traffic.

It operates the Wi-Fi network with over 12,000 hotspots throughout Hong Kong supported by its own Gibabit optical fiber terrestrial transmission network,

The network intends to increase the number of hotspots to over 20,000 in 2014. PCCW-HKT has also established the Smart Wi-Fi Alliance to promote the usage of Wi-Fi and new technologies in Hong Kong.

Powered by Cisco's service provider Wi-Fi system, PCCW-HKT's Gigabit Wi-Fi network adopts the 802.11ac standard.
