HK workers plan more job changes in H1 2025: report
32.6% of respondents said they plan to change jobs within the first six months of 2025.
Job-switching intentions amongst workers in Hong Kong appear to be rising slightly in the first half of 2025, although actual movement in late 2024 declined.
According to early findings from the 2025 Randstad Employer Brand Research, 32.6% of respondents said they plan to change jobs within the first six months of 2025.
This marks a 0.7 percentage point increase compared to the same period a year earlier. In contrast, only 22.6% reported having changed jobs between July and December 2024, a 1.2 percentage point decline YoY.
The data indicated that whilst intent to switch remains relatively stable, overall mobility has slowed. Randstad noted that Hongkongers are showing slightly more hesitation about making job moves compared to previous years.
Other insights from the report suggested that work-life balance continues to grow in importance as a reason for job changes.
A 5.9% increase was observed in respondents citing it as their primary motivator for leaving their roles, followed by competitive job offers and strained manager relationships.
Job boards remain the dominant job search tool across all age groups, whilst social media platforms like LinkedIn are gaining ground amongst Gen Z and Millennials, who use them to explore company culture and career opportunities.
