Funding program for elderly academy rolls out

Applications will be accepted until May 30.

According to a report, the Committee on Elder Academy Development Foundation has invited tertiary institutions and school-sponsoring bodies of secondary and primary schools and organisations to apply for funds in setting up elder academies, and organising activities which promote elderly learning and inter-generational harmony.

Applications should reach the committee’s secretariat by May 30. School-sponsoring bodies of secondary and primary schools must submit their applications jointly with collaborating welfare organisations.

The Elder Academy Scheme promotes continuous learning for elderly people, active ageing, and inter-generational harmony.

In the 2012-13 academic year, there are altogether 110 elder academies in primary, secondary and tertiary institutions, offering a wide range of courses.
