Elder academy funds unveiled

Applications should be sent by 31 October.

According to a report, the Committee on Elder Academy Development Foundation is inviting funding applications from tertiary institutions and school-sponsoring bodies of secondary and primary schools interested in setting up elder academies.

Organisations interested in holding activities promoting elderly learning are also invited.

Applications should reach the committee's secretariat by October 31.

School-sponsoring bodies must submit applications jointly with collaborating welfare organisations.

The committee will provide $80,000 to set up an approved elder academy in a primary or secondary school.

In the 2013-14 academic year, there are 108 elder academies in primary, secondary and tertiary institutions, offering a wide range of courses.
